A Health Coach is a supportive mentor and wellness authority who works with clients to help them feel their best through food and lifestyle changes. Instead of prescribing one diet or way of exercising, Health Coaches tailor individualized wellness programs to meet their clients' needs.

Relationships, exercise, career, and spirituality are just as important to your health as the food you eat. Health Coaches understand this and take a holistic approach to supporting the whole person. Find out how health coaching stacks up against other health and wellness jobs.

I hope you are doing well and beginning to really have a chance to enjoy the fresh outdoors! This is now the height of the summer months. We have finally gotten far enough out from the Covid19 restrictions that we are able to enjoy more activities without as much worry.

This has been a challenging time with the stay at home orders, precautions, and recent upsets of economical, political and social issues. While I am primarily a nurse and health educator, the recent events overlap greatly with maintaining health and wellness. Because, if you do not feel safe, from any of the previously mentioned issues, that alone can impact your health greatly.

It is important to build your own foundation of health and wellness in order to remain strong and have the wherewithal to not only endure any changes we face, but also the ability to be resilient physiologically and psychologically. This is important in building your immune system and prevent it’s breakdown, which would leave you susceptible not only to viruses such as Covid19, but also to prevent other illnesses acute and chronic.

Renewal and Resilience: How to Spring Back

We have found ourselves in a very strange and unnerving circumstance. This Pandemic has managed to slow everything almost everywhere to nearly a standstill, with no known date of reprieve. Luckily enough in most of the United States Spring has arrived, or is arriving. So, the weather is warming, and flowers and trees are beginning to bloom. This leaves me with much refreshment! To hear all the birds and other wildlife is like music. Seeing the sun come out, warming up the earth and bringing life to the landscape gives me hope.

While we are maintaining our Social Distance we can still enjoy the fresh air and benefits of this spring renewal. Take time to go for walks outside, spend time in your yard if you have one, consider planting a small manageable garden. A garden can provide a great variety of food sources that will not require you to frequent the store every 3-4 days. Finding your favorite fruits or vegetables that can grow in your region and planting some of them can have many benefits.

Working outside in a garden brings many people hours of enjoyment, some even say it is meditative. Many people love getting their hands in the soil planting, weeding, etc. This is also a fantastic opportunity to introduce children to gardening, and teaching them where food really comes from! Kids will really dig watching seeds get planted and grow into these full grown plant foods that they can later cut, cook, eat, and enjoy!

Through gardening you are literally reaping what you sow.
