Commonly at the beginning of a new year we tend to look at things we want to change or improve in our lives. Never more so than this year, I believe. With last year changing so much for so many, causing us to live our lives in a completely different way. One way to take a step forward in changing something to improve our life is through the method of surrender.
Do you ever feel like you're stuck? Do you ever feel like you're doing the same thing over and over every day, and you can't figure out how to get to your next best thing?

This holiday is like no other any of us have experienced before. The uncertainty and worry people are experiencing has created a great amount of stress and anxiety. It has also been able to bring families closer together, some physically since they have been required to remain home more, work from home, or school from home. This has given many families challenges, but also the pleasures of really connecting and getting to know each other better. In our fast-paced society of work, school, extra-curricular activities, many families had been so busy they really did not get to connect. While we have been “connected” via social apps, etc. we have lost some of that true connection. So, if there has been any benefit to this social distancing, it has been to slow things down and give us opportunity to interact on a personal level with our closest family members.
Since this is the holiday season, I would like to focus this blog on being PRESENT, not presents, but presence.
It is the time of year that the days have begun to get shorter already. You may have noticed that it is staying dark longer in the morning, and the sun is going down sooner in the evening. This could give you a good opportunity to reset your sleep schedule.
One important aspect of good health remains in getting adequate sleep. This is something that for many reasons a majority struggle with. You may have trouble shutting down your mind at night to go to sleep. You may wake frequently during the night, or even having trouble going back to sleep. Then in the morning you will wake feeling even more tired than when you went to bed. There are many other more subtle symptoms of poor sleep quality.
