A Health Coach is a supportive mentor and wellness authority who works with clients to help them feel their best through food and lifestyle changes. Instead of prescribing one diet or way of exercising, Health Coaches tailor individualized wellness programs to meet their clients' needs.

Relationships, exercise, career, and spirituality are just as important to your health as the food you eat. Health Coaches understand this and take a holistic approach to supporting the whole person. Find out how health coaching stacks up against other health and wellness jobs.

THREE WAYS TO ATTRACT LOVE INTO YOUR LIFE – RIGHT NOW

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the status of our relationships is amplified for those who are unattached. Love is a topic that baffles most of us. Love challenges us to look at ourselves for who we really are. Love is a reflection, like a boomerang hitting us hard in the head – and the heart. Love can be excruciatingly painful and can destroy us. It can also allow us to reach higher heights and have the most intoxicating, joyous feeling and experience in the world. Read More

Frozen Trees 2021

Commonly at the beginning of a new year we tend to look at things we want to change or improve in our lives. Never more so than this year, I believe. With last year changing so much for so many, causing us to live our lives in a completely different way. One way to take a step forward in changing something to improve our life is through the method of surrender.

Do you ever feel like you're stuck? Do you ever feel like you're doing the same thing over and over every day, and you can't figure out how to get to your next best thing?

FOUR EXERCISES TO SUPPORT YOUR GUT MICROBIOME

IIN loves to talk about the gut, and for good reason – how we take care of our gut health is a large determinant of our overall health, from digestion and elimination to mental well-being and beyond. What it means for our gut to be healthy will look different from person to person, but it can be categorized in two main ways: how we take care of our gut health physically, including exercise and the food we eat, and mentally/emotionally, such as managing stress and anxiety and engaging in healthy lifestyle behaviors. This holiday is like no other any of us have experienced before. The uncertainty and worry people are experiencing has created a great amount of stress and anxiety. It has also been able to bring families closer together, some physically since they have been required to remain home more, work from home, or school from home. This has given many families challenges, but also the pleasures of really connecting and getting to know each other better. In our fast-paced society of work, school, extra-curricular activities, many families had been so busy they really did not get to connect. While we have been “connected” via social apps, etc.  we have lost some of that true connection. So, if there has been any benefit to this social distancing, it has been to slow things down and give us opportunity to interact on a personal level with our closest family members.

Since this is the holiday season, I would like to focus this blog on being PRESENT, not presents, but presence.

TEN FOODS TO MANAGE ANXIETY YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT

General anxiety disorder is one of the most common types of mental health issues, affecting 40 million adults in the United States alone. Anxiety can be caused by many things, from stressors at work to the foods we eat, and it manifests in different ways in the body, including emotional and physiological symptoms. There are also many avenues one can take to manage these symptoms, ranging from prescribed antidepressants to a daily jog to release endorphins. However, one of the strongest paths to explore is proper diet. Read More

It is the time of year that the days have begun to get shorter already. You may have noticed that it is staying dark longer in the morning, and the sun is going down sooner in the evening. This could give you a good opportunity to reset your sleep schedule.

One important aspect of good health remains in getting adequate sleep. This is something that for many reasons a majority struggle with. You may have trouble shutting down your mind at night to go to sleep. You may wake frequently during the night, or even having trouble going back to sleep. Then in the morning you will wake feeling even more tired than when you went to bed. There are many other more subtle symptoms of poor sleep quality.

WHAT FOODS ARE HIGH IN LECTINS? – 12 FOODS TO CHECK OUT

Lectin is a type of protein found in all plant foods. Lectins are considered an “anti-nutrient,” which means they prevent the absorption of certain nutrients. You’re probably thinking, “That’s terrible! Why would I want to eat anything that contains anti-nutrients?” Before you ban lectins for life, let’s explore why these anti-nutrients exist and how their benefits may outweigh the consequences. How did it get to be September already? Time seems to have zoomed by, although for many other reasons it also felt like it was dragging on forever! I hope you have been able to stay healthy and active during this physical distancing time.

While this has put many people out of work, or working from home, or working reduced hours, I have managed to continue working full-time as an essential health care worker. While that is truly fortunate for me, it has not allowed for much downtime or relaxation. However, I have been able to continue with my love of reading. I am always reading 4 or more books at a time, and have a greater stack of books in waiting. I have different moods for different books, so I switch back and forth rather than going from start to finish on one, and then start on another. Maybe it has to do with an inability to stay focused, or being easily distracted. *wink*

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR YOUR BODY TO ADJUST TO EATING HEALTHY?

A healthy and diverse diet can help your body feel and perform at full capacity. However, it takes time for your body to begin feeling noticeable effects of a diet rich in micronutrients, macronutrients, and whole foods. The body will “communicate” how it’s adjusting to your improved diet changes, which can look like weight loss, improved skin, better digestion, and higher energy levels. Read More
